Thank you all for the great feedback! From your suggestions, it appears the best TV/display would either be a Samsung or an LG. As for sound, Sony seems to have carried the day with more people mentioning the sound clarity and 'boom' effect that their home theaters come with.

Plasmas are good for watching movies but leave screen burns when playing console games..for me personally i hate seeing that when playing my games :-).If you have to go with plasma go with Panasonic..they have invested alot in that technology.If you want gaming i would advice LCD/LED TVs..and while at it,if you can top up the money..get a 3D TV..their prices are low this days,check Amazon.This is coming from a person who has owned both a plasma and an LED TV.
