Samsung traditionally counts devices shipped, meaning they do not necessarily need to have been sold to consumers. One the other hand, Apple counts devices sold and activated. For all we know, the 20 million Samsung Galaxy phones sold could be sitting in retailer shops. On the other hand, I don't think consumers are really looking for a big screen. It reaches a point where bigger screens approaches a point of diminishing returns. A case in point is the Galaxy Note. If people wanted bigger screen, they could have been selling many more devices.
