Community driven has always been at the centre though. So guys once thought of doing a formal registration but then opted not to after consultation (some 5-6 years ago). It's a discussion that's been on and off. Regarding SACCO - this works with numbers. The more the better. Also the regulation around this has tightened up so the smaller SACCOs are either winding up or getting swallowed by larger ones. I'd suggest approaching Safaricom SACCO if you are interested in being part of a SACCO. You need not be a Safaricom employee. Evon,
Running a SACCO is not a very easy business that can be done casually like the what Skunkworks is structures. There are a lot of regulations involved in setting up and running a society nowadays and may require some full time staff to operate.
That said, your idea is not bad and has been raised several times in the forum touching on the large picture on how members want Skunkworks to operate. Many feel that the informal structures works well, others feel that we should formalize it with registration and other processes, and yet others want to take-over an existing society.
Oliver Ndegwa was leading the discussion earlier on efforts to register/take-over but I haven't see anything from him on the subject.
Perhaps those who feels *'philanthropically'* passionate enough to do work out something and keep the other members posted should form themselves in to a committee that can *'physically'* meet and discuss the way forward. The informal board is very large and sometimes there is paralysis of the masses and it becomes hard to get anything done.
I can spare some few hours a week on this effort if we can have other volunteers.

Hi skunks,
I hv seen and I hv been thinking about this for a while now. What if we start our own. Many started and now yielding alot. Apart from our I.T business, can we start one with minimum requirements i.e be able to save minimum 3k a month, loan with 12% reducing balance and such. Lets think about this.
