It happened to me too and a couple of my users. This is how I went around it:

These are the steps to follow , I had the same proble but this has worked.

   

1.       Click Start, type run and press Enter. (On Windows XP: Click Start and then Run.)

   

2.       Type the following and click OK.

   

%appdata%\skype

3.       Locate and delete the file shared.xml.


Thanks Jac, that worked fine for me. I'm finally back up! (The sceptic in me renamed the shared.xml file rather than delete it)

For a moment I was convinced that M$ had indeed integrated their generic crash library into Skype
