Most of the time your card details are stolen, you would never know. A few tips is to always use ATM's which are near or at the bank, and have the green lock sign. Also insist on getting chip-based cards as opposed to magnetic-strip based ones - You may not be totally in control of this as your bank gives you the technology they have, but you have an option of declining such credit cards - or just don't use them at any ATM at all.
