cheaper power yaaah right! , losses in transmission, taxes and illegal connections already erode all chance of cheap power in the country. The problem is with distribution, not generation.

When purchasing the electricity token, one gets a slip that looks exactly like a postpaid bill, I would have to go have another look at it to ascertain if the fixed charge is still applicable. I suspect it is.
 
I  actually think the prepaid metres will lead to alot of layoffs, e.g the metre reading/connection/disconnection/reconnection guys are probably living on borrowed time.
I doubt these benefits will be transferred to the consumer though. Our hopes lie in cheaper power from Ethiopia!

Additionally, if i am to argue logically, with prepaid, there is no elecman coming to check, so his fuel, his salary , his expenses which i would assume are added into my bill should be deducted.  SHOULDNT THEY?
