This happens a lot, problem is if you try to help and you are a lone ninja, the gang will very quickly silence you. They are known I believe to the police and the conductors. Some years back, they tried the drop coin on me so that they could snatch my neighbors phone. Told them I cannot see it. so the main guy asked me to get up from my seat so that he can look for his coin. At the time, I had thought it was genuine until the guy refused to get off my seat and asked me to get a seat elsewhere. So I just stood next to him staring at him with 'where are your manners' eyes. 

Then a guy 2 seats ahead of me shouted at me, 'Kaa chini huko mbele wewe, utashikwa na kanjo'. 'Wakinishika tutaenda na wewe? I retorted. Wacha kanju wafanye kazi yao na wewe ufanye yako!' I continued. Wait a minute, a 3rd and a 4th guy chipped in asking me to move away and sit somewhere else. Then I noticed a pattern in their eyes red, tired and bluffly stern. Getting back to the main guy, he had started chatting up my seatmate. "Umepata pesa yako?" I asked, genuinely:). Then I realized its a gang and they all boarded at the same time hapo GPO. One of them was trying to establish eye contact with me to issue me a threat.

Meanwhile with all the questioning, every other passenger is quietly minding their business. What if the whole bus is a gang save me and my seatmate? My seatmate was now aware and held everything to himself as I did a ninja-alight. One of the guy coming after me."Tutakumaliza wewe!". So Cynthia pole, but just understand may be guys have had nasty experiences trying to be Ninjas and Zorros and stories are many out there.
