Overall, a very good website.
The following can help a bit:
1. The fact that your source is legible means you have NOT compressed HTML. Since you using Joomla, JCH Optimize can help u there.
2. Have you run PageSpeed against that website? If you did, you'ld notice that you loading 13 CSS files, 11 Javscript files and 115 images (of which one is missing)! This is not exactly a good thing. You can try combining the CSS and JS files into as few files as possible. Are you familiar with CSS sprites?
3. Overall, your site is loading 144 resources! Or at least thats what Pingdom tells me. That is not a good thing.
4. On my browser, on the first run, your site took 8.5 seconds to load. I hear that Google recommends 1.5 seconds.
5. I opened one of your CSS files, typo.css which happens to be the biggest at 20.1KB. As I suspected, your CSS is NOT minified. Minifycss.com might be able to help with that.
6. Why is your mootools.js so big even after compressing? 72.7KB
7. Not all of your Javascript files are minified. minifyjs.com can help with that.
8. PageSpeed gives you a score of 70 out of 100. You can easily attain 80 out of 100 by compressing and combining stuff.
9. Check out the Web Peformance Best Practices, try to follow some of them.
10. Your URLs are, for lack of better words, not human friendly :-)
Important Note.
A few days days ago, I minified my javscript then installed JCH optimize and my website was broken. Fixed it by unchecking the option to compress JS in the JCH admin panel.
JCH actually works, I say attest to that from experience.
