I have been in a situation where I almost literally walked out of my job, but not my career. The stress level was so high that at one particular month, I spent over 13 hours each day consecutively including weekends, at the work place. I love my job and all, more than anything else. But sometimes it reaches a point where your current job sucks out the fun you derive from your work, not to mention health issues.
I had to make a choice, and eventually I left that place to have ample time to focus on my own projects and business ... in IT ofcourse.
If I find myself in risk of burning out, I simply detach myself from active IT altogether and do something else like watch silly cartoons, movies, or even get out of the city ... without my Kate (My laptop).
What you all have to admit is that, at some point in your career, you will experience burnout. Regardless of how much you love your job, there will come a time when you just don't feel like doing it anymore, and would rather stay home or do something else. Do take a rest and avoid carrying your work home with you.
