My suggestion was that, just as Aki had pointed out, Skunkworks KE has some representation on the Innovation Board. Since (not) all of us are interested, perhaps nominating one amongst us would work well. Two nominations have so far been made (Phares and GM), and time is too short for us to go in rounds. A public list can be of much help. I also understand it's not to serve in the big title Board, but some kind of creativity... to represent diverse players. Or maybe there is another way for nominating our interest on Board... On 06/08/2010, alkags@gmail.com <alkags@gmail.com> wrote:
My understanding is that the aim is to have reps of innovators and real techies not the usual sort of board with big business types. If one has good demonstrable experience in mobile innovation whatever sector and has the ability to have a balanced business view then indeed they should be nominated. After all the idea is to help Safaricom open up to innovation even further.
Also, the decision of who they appoint is there's so what do you have to lose?

You know, I don't think the Safaricom thing is a popularity contest (you know, the kind where the most nominations get an appointment)... From what I have read of the notice, they just want us to nominate names and they will see who is most suited to their needs... at their discretion. I see no reason why all of you should not nominate yourselves.... or Phares and others... Al Kags -----------------------
AlKags, let me firstly congratulate you on what you managed to achieve. That was excellent. Asante sana. :-)
Secondly and please do correct as necessary, this team is up against web traffickers, private sector, policy makers, renowned engineers and public figures and the rest who can easily drive up nomination traffic or may even just need one nomination. And because this list has yet to move towards web traffic so that such is possible, members on this list are at a severe handicap. Because Safaciom's selection critera is not known, if they get 1000 applicants, what do they use to filter the selection process? Will they call 1000 people for interviews?
If you feel that the Gentlemen/Ladies on this list stand a chance going it alone, then I guess the matter is closed.
Am just wondering aloud. Kindly advice this list.
Asante.
