Create an entry with the server's (PC that is directly connected to USB printer) IP in client's /etc/hosts.

Eg, if your server's hostname is 'printserver' with IP address: 192.168.0.100, append the following to /etc/hosts file in the client PC.

192.168.0.100 printserver

See if it will work.

Hi all,

anyone managed to share a usb HP_LaserJet_1020 printer on ubuntu hardy (8.04) on a lan?

i have tried reading as much doc's with no success. Actually, the printer works fine on one machine(Hardy), but when i share the printer to be accessed by other Hardy clients on the lan.....the printing from these clients tends to "freeze/hang" and does not print. I have tried using the different protocols (ipp, HP Direct, Samba) without success.

Anyone who's got this working or with any tricks under the sleeves that might solve this nightmare?

I'd appreciate.
