Do not go far start fighting your admins at work...they are your first "small cck's" ---- they check on you and your activities all the time but not on large scale - Treat it as UNWRITTEN rules in any profession e.g. if a doctor intends to examine you, privacy is thrown off the window s/he does it anyway in any fashion necessary including sedating you what goes on after you have no clue so.....!!!
FYI - Letters used to be opened and you did nothing about it anyways.....so Shut UP!
To sum it up there is no privacy we lie to ourselves...Period!!!
