What am getting at is these articles are wrong about Africa, its an overly simplified way of looking at the continent.
Per CCK, there are 10m Kenyans on the net, with Mobile networks brining in around 3M subscribers ... Are we sharing phones ?
I have been asking my friends and random people I meet since jana and this is what I get so far
A. All of them used the internet on a PC as the first
B. Around 60pct have never used the net via mobile but they do so via PC at jobo, school etc
Still asking ..

@ Agosta,
I don't have stats but I would say for a good number in Africa, first access to the internet is via mobile phone. Whether it remains so is out for debate. I am basing my conclusions on articles such as this...

Probably right. May be the bigger question is the difference in what they do on mobile vrs PC. 8~)

Skunks,
Would I be correct in saying that over 95pct of Kenyans who have access to internet on phone also have it via PC ?
How many Kenyans have the mobile web as the first or only way of accessing the web ?
Would love to get some feedback or thoughts around the same...
Thanks
Liko

Whoever was shocked at Bob's hint is being emotional rather than logical. The telecoms industry in Kenya is 99% imports, from the biggest equipment to the smallest, even a SIM card is imported. So if the the dollar wobbles, the network operators feel the effect in a very profound way. If everyone out there, even maize hawkers, are blaming the dollar for their upward price shifts, how is it that telcos are expected to remain with flat prices (or even lower them some more). It's simply not possible, prices have to go up at some point.
