Not really.... If you look at my initial email, I mentioned that he could still purchase the SSL certificates online. 

Most consumer products are normally available for purchase electronically. However, in the bigger picture, IT vendors normally have a channel in place - distribution and resell partners - to capture the corporate, NGO and government markets. Corporate and government markets make the majority of any IT vendor's revenue - with the exception, of course, of highly developed consumer-centric business models like Apple's.
