Umm, @Shiro and the rest. I apologize if I have stepped on anyone's toes or come across as being discriminatory against residents of Dandora, but at least allow me to explain myself as well. I have just looked at www.zuku.co.ke and I have seen that they offer broadband, cable TV or both products/services. I am not into television and entertainment (perfect nerd, I guess), so I never bothered to find out more about zuku after seeing/hearing that it's got to do with what I'd call TVoIP - TV over the net. I have always thought of zuku as internet TV plus broadband. So I eat humble pie and acknowledge that I made a misinformed statement. However, when this debate came up, I was thinking along the lines of - if I was running Wananchi, I'd target areas where there is a high chance of getting people to subscribe to my Internet TV service. I'm talking about clients who are reliable and can be trusted to be able to make due payments for the services subscribed for. Pardon me for seeing things this way, I see myself as a realist rather than an idealist. I don't know why. Anyway, I was thinking that taking internet TV to Dandora residents is not a viable business option, both in terms of potential client base and considering the security risks/costs that would be involved. This view that the area is not ideal for this kind of business has unfortunately been perceived to be patronizing of me to Dandora residents. Please note that that is not the case. I guess we are looking at the matter from different perspectives. I will try better next time to get my facts right before making statement or giving opinion to this forum or anywhere else. Me. Just because people live in low-income areas doesn't mean they can't afford laptops or even desktops or whatever so that they would need some internet connectivity. It is the masses(Those living in Kawangware,Dandora,Kayole etc) who have pushed Equity to where it is right now.
