[Skunkworks] Linux for Desktop - which one?

Hello Linux-likes:-) Coming from *BSD side of the divide, I wanted to get your opinion about which Linux version has the greatest Desktop experience, yet easy to manage for a noob (like myself). Is it Ubuntu, OpenSuse, Debian, Gentoo, this or that?
