Dear All, The Jornada Experimental Range (USDA-ARS) at New Mexico State University is currently developing a global knowledge engine using mobile phone and cloud computing technologies to evaluate land potential and predict restoration success at fine spatial and temporal scales. Currently, we have a pre-beta version of the mobile tool (Android application) to be tested in the field in Kenya (late March). Current plans are to grow the tool to allow for real-time, user communication and sharing of best practices. It is our intention to also develop this application to meet agency/organization objectives for mapping of incidences of human conflict, their relationship to land degradation variables, and allow for appropriate response from the relevant agency/organizations. We are currently looking for application developers based in East Africa, with experience working in the Android platform. We are willing to meet with competent organizations and individuals in Nairobi, Kenya during the weeks of 18 March - 1 April, 2014. Please contact Dr. Adam Beh at abeh@nmsu.edu for details. -- Regards! Aliata D.
