Generally I'm not into politics and avoid it because it's more like an endless loop or a infinite counter, however after yesterday's list ICC announcement I got wondering a few things. It seems that the delicate balance found in many developing countries is still being played out day in and day out. While many other countries in Africa are almost trashed and failed states literally, I wonder what the future holds for KE. I also wonder why award winning applications like Ushaidi play no real part in the displaced kenyans scenario where almost 650,000 kenyans were made homeless or rooted from their homes. I've also not seen any developer applications or web applications that may or would help such a situation while there are such camps in many places, the problems of resettlement and compensation. The human toll and displacement of the violence was not smaller than any war though kenya was not at war with any country. At the same time, I also read a summary of the online KACA report that they have already recovered at least Ksh 7 billion and it seems we may finally have some serious people who are going to make changes. I've also not seen any applications that would make KACA's life much easier. So web and mobile developers out there, I see an oppurtunity to bring out the screaming facts of the kenyan situation and hope that while the net is littered with many kenyan blog sites on politics and views which is a passion for many, there can be some concrete ideas on implemeting tools to better serve our situations.
