The most important value proposition of an i-Phone is that its trendy, that's the true value. Its a phone you want to show in public, similar to a trendy car (BMW X6 for instance, a toyota Prado would do the same but you would rather a BMW).
Technically, an i-Phone provides a convergence of business and pleasure.
Business: mail sync (Microsoft Exchange, Gmail, Yahoo...); VPNs (L2TP, Cisco IPSec..); Cisco Webex, Apple Store
Pleasure: Safari browser (better browsing experience), i-Pod, i-Tunes...
The Apple Store in particular is very rich, over 100,000 apps.
