i just contacted them at www.magicpay.co.ke about debiting their smart cards with balance below 5 shillings. lets see if they read their mail, given the site is dated 2007. Tweety above gave another suggestion, That of indicating balance remaining in their receipts and you can claim later with the receipt. My university mess uses such a simple and effective solution. Quite ingenious! The other day I went shopping at one of Tuskys outlets and the cashier gave me extra change. I only noticed that after almost leaving the premises, and quickly returned the extra cash. When it comes to sweets, I only ask for Tropical Mints in lieu of coins. I wonder why they do not exchange chocolates with coins!

Those sweets are not worth the change you leave behind............. last time i shopped and got sweets, i kept the sweets and the receipt together. Next time i visited the same Tuskys, went to the same teller, when she tried patia me more sweets, i gave her back the sweets and the receipt from my previous shopping and asked for my complete change and got it :)
They make it legal tender, why should the exchange be one way?
