No one knows what the game-changer will be, that is why companies with incredible reach have an opportunity to leverage that intelligently. Take Amazon.com for instance: they managed to morph from an online bookseller (of all things!) to a serious contender with the Amazon EC2 suite, Kindle etc. Google started with (just) search, look where they are now.

Apple had an opportunity to extend their appstore reach way beyond their iPod/iPhone line but Steve Jobs would have none of it. That may come back to bite him.

Then again, who knows?
