Do you require a Username/Password combo or Digest to authenticate on the SIP Gateway? If not isn't there a risk of toll fraud ? On Tue, Aug 20, 2013 at 3:51 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com>wrote:

Hi,
I needed some details on SIP Trunking Solution;
- What security mechanisms have you implemented? IPSEC or TLS etc?
I did not require any security for this. It's not a VPN Tunnel, but rather a simple "Internet connection". My IP PBX (Avaya IPO500v2) is behind a NAT Router (Cisco 1841). The SIP Gateway is at Iway Africa side. In this scenario, noone cares about the security at each others end, as long as the VoIP Switches can establish the trunk.
- What Bandwidth did you require to run both SIP and Data?
I have 2/3Mbps.
- Any QoS or traffic marking implemented ?
Yes. A simple QoS config on the Cisco ensures that VoIP traffic always has priority and is guaranteed 50% of the available bandwidth at any given time. I don't care much about the other forms of traffic as they are not important.
- How many Public IPs were required?
Well, I managed to do this using a single public IP on the Cisco. The PABX is behind NAT.
