Hadn't read your last statement.. in that case scratch off option 2... that would possibly break other apps that use python2.6.

You have 2 options:

  1. When running python setup.py install ... use the absolute python2.7 .. ie python2.7 setup.py install
  2. or more permanently.. remove the link  /usr/bin/python and create a new one that points to python2.7 ... ls  -s  /usr/bin/python2.7  /usr/bin/python

hello, after some upgrades i find my system running two versons of python, 2.6 and 2.7, i urgently need to install a specific pywebdav version on the 2.7. whenever i use easy install, or just download it and do the setup.py install, it ends up in the 2.6. is there a way of installing this?

i dont want to tamper with attempting to remove the older versions and cause breakages ..
