safaricom is not a manufacturing company that require imported raw materials day in to keep production. The import argument does not add up. From what I know is that Safaricom infrastructure is pretty much done countrywide and as such whether the equipments re expensive abroad should be an issue unless these equipments are consumables. So if the the dollar wobbles, the network operators feel the effect in a very profound way. If everyone out there, even maize hawkers, are blaming the dollar for their upward price shifts, how is it that telcos are expected to remain with flat prices (or even lower them some more). It's simply not possible, prices have to go up at some point.
