[Skunkworks] Is Microsoft High on something?

I have been testing Windows 8 since Developer Preview, Consumer Preview and now Release Preview. What beats me is that even between Consumer Preview and now Release Preview, M$ doesn't seem to give an update option. On two machines I have been running CP on, I am forced to do a complete reinstallation of everything!
