But why is it that techies are underpaid? Is it that the market is saturated, or the job is just too easy that users can employ a DIY approach to doing some of our work?? Or should I have started another thread? :-P On 14 April 2011 12:21, James Kagwe <kagwejg@gmail.com> wrote:
Skunks,
As we argue about pay to format a computer, I bought an electric water pump this weekend for an apartment for 5K and on contacting a plumber / electrician to fix it he said he can only do it for 2K. I thought that job was worth 500 at most. The guy refused and the pump is still lying in my house.
Question? Btn a plumber and a technician who has more skill or valuable skills for that matter? How long will it take to fix an electric pump compared to formatting a computer? IT people really undervalue their skills. No wonder we will never be at per with CFO's in terms of pay yet it is the technology that's driving modern organizations.
