Joe would have loved to achieve the impossible. Even a 1 week Crash Course would not be able to cover all the areas he mentioned!
1. how to replace cartridges/toners on printers
2. diagnosing and repairing various printer problems (Epson and HP printers in particular), scanners,UPS and servers

On (1), no training is required. One can read the manual that comes with the cartridges/toners.
On (2)(a) diagnosing and repairing various printer problems - This requires specialized training from the manufacturers
         (b) scanners,UPS and servers - scanners/UPS too will require training from the manufacturers. For Servers, I am not sure
              what he meant.
I have a feeling this guy read one of those overzealous JDs that some agencies include in Job Ads and he wanted to apply for the job.

My advise to him: Rome was not built in a day!
