Rad, I hope others will contribute to this thread discussion because if it is true that Kenya does not have any such system in place, then the govt has left the welfare responsibilty to its citizens which is terrible. So now matter how much you earn on a salary or the profits you make in business, the country will keep on becoming poorer because the dependency is on those who earn and share with their families etc to provide the basics like pay rent, fees, medical.
In reality, it would be a sick joke for any country to tax heavily and not give much in return ( well, roads are not enough ). Then say we have youth unemployment problems and insecurity. Youth problems are everywhere and each problem has a different answer. Youth in developed countries tend have a decent house, get money from govt ( if they are smart ) go on bing drinking ( you dont have to be middle income or more to do this ) and its issues while those youth in developing countries are trying to stay alive and its issues. In other countries, if you loose your job or some calamity befalls you, you have a strong chance that you will not die or be on the streets as there is a system in place provided by the govt to cushion you to a certain level.
I'm not aware of Kenya handling those particular problems. And if there were a welfare system in place I have no doubt like maize and education, the money would be stolen.
