By the way does the use .ke domain increase Internet traffic to Kenya?
Do you have any information that you wont mind sharing with us
Look at https://registry.kenic.or.ke/statistics.jsp

@lordmwesh i think they (or at least you) have all the maths wrong.
If we have only 4000 domains, why do we need soo many staff members. That means the industry is heaving a heavier burden than it can carry.
Onto economies of scale, which one preceeds the other, lowering the prices or getting more volumes to achieve economies of scale? On Wed, Jul 14, 2010 at 1:05 AM, lordmwesh <lordmwesh@gmail.com> wrote:
@Brainiac,
Read this, you might get the logic.

Don't forget the economies of scale enjoyed by the giant gTLD root
registries, and the 'hidden' charges in renewal where a .com domain
reverts to $10 on the second year. Don't also forget that such gTLD
companies are able to make more revenue on associated products like
hosting, emails, search engine optimization, marketing, software
development, nakadhalika.
Also do the maths, 3000 total domains, assume all are co.ke @2000 that
is KES6Million/year to pay all KENIC salaries, manage servers, pay
KIXP, pay bandwidth, do marketing, e.t.c.
Lets give KENIC a breathing space and help them with their marketing
strategy. Let us help build brand Kenya. Let us convince our clients
to take .ke domains, and be patriotic, like what is happening in South
Africa, Japan, and Australia
