Hallo Stephen My responses in blue below: TESPOK is one of the partners working with KRA over the last 2 years to get this system in place. However, there are a number of teething problems especially in synchronizing the data from Registrars of Companies and Persons. Since the departments were running on manual record keeping it was realised that during the data transfer from hard copy to electronic some data was either omitted or left out. KRA with the related agencies is in the process of cleaning this data. I would also like to encourage all individuals to visit the KRA website www.kra.go.ke <http://www.kra.go.ke/> and go to online service to register as an individual or corporate. If individual information is inaccurate kindly contact 020- 4999999 the ITMS call center for assistance. The ITMS (Integrated Tax Management System) should be accessible on any browse I have managed to open it on Mozilla fire fox, IE and safari without any problems. You input shall go a long way in helping improve the system. We the system gives an answer that isn't clear kindly call 020- 4999999 and you shall be assisted. But ooh no, the website claims that the certificate of incorporation, the company pin, and the company itself does not exist [ its 1 year old} - and tells me expressly to go and register the company... What do they mean by register a company that already exists ?? It means the details of the company you have that has been registered for the last one year are missing from the database of companies from the register of companies. Since you already have a certificate of incorporation the registrar of companies is best placed to verify you company details an update their data. Do we need to register the companies again [just by name at kra] so they can put in the database??? You don't need to register the company again by any name. It must be part of the missing data from registrar of companies. The system is integrating data from various sources but KRA has no authority to change the data from the sources especially when it is data that they have not had before. If you have made at least one tax return whether VAT or PAYE then you are already in KRA's system so that is easier to verify. When it is a new entry and the data is missing verification can only come from the register of companies. Then the registrar of companies shall transfer new data on new registrations as well as updates on pre-existing files to the KRA system for public access and use by us (the end-user/tax payer). I dont know if a kra guy is in this forum,, but the online thing does not really work or their database does not have all companies in their database..
