I thought that GSoC was open to everyone, as long as you take part in an approved project. You apply to a mentoring organization and if accepted, that is it! This talk of &quot;well connected party people&quot; is a new one, and bad at that.<br>

And ensure the right people get to attend. I would appreciate if there was a vetting process or a pre qualification.  Among the few I  have seen,  none of the passionate guys about IT attended. Only well connected party people.
