Unless i'm mistaken. George, you can log on using orange credit and then log on with wi-free or a different VPN service to get on to a US network.

I think I'll miss connecting and watching US based services like HULU and some interesting sites due to region target advertising. Is there a way to still do this?

Here's food for thought for you.

Your argument about the concept of "free" wi-fi. Would i not believe that the freedom expressed would be a monitored freedom?

Anyone know of Burma?

Robinhood or no Robinhood, snitches or no snitches, that is a Good
point on the Internet as a Basic Human right. Internet as a human
right has been a big issue at the Internet Governance Forums (IGFs).

The basic tenet states "... all people must be able to access the Internet
in order to exercise and enjoy their rights to Freedom of expression and
opinion and other fundamental human rights, that States have a
responsibility to ensure that Internet access is broadly available, and
that States may not unreasonably restrict an individual's access to the
Internet"

But the right to access means that nobody will interfere or prevent you
from accessing the service, therefore the government cannot have an
"internet switch" as it happened in Egypt during the Arab spring. The right
does not mean that the service will be available for free, just
the way food, Shelter, clothing, and medical care is a right (you cannot be
denied this amenities), but they are not necessarily free.

We should count ourselves lucky since Jubilee government promised us Free
Wifi. Free as in "free lunch". I'm rubbing my hands waiting for it. ..||..

ISOC will be holding the annual Kenya Internet Governance Forum, and one of
the topics are Universal Access. You are invited for the debate. This is
your chance to hold operators and government accountable to affordable REAL
BROADBAND face to face. You will have a chance to engage the PS and
operators, and challenge then with hard-talk.
It's noted with concern that listers don't participate in these
debates, or even attend the face-to-face meeting.

Consider this, if everybody hops into the wi-free, Telkom will fold
shop, and nobody will have access to the wi-free, so either way,
something had to be done. What we should fight for is affordable
broadband, but not "pirated" service.

Regards
