Hi Alex,
The plug-play modem software doesnt always work on Linux, but I'll tell you something that always works on linux : ppp or gnome-ppp or kppp (all birds of the feather). On most systems the modem dialer (ppp and its brethren) works seamlessly through NetworkManager applets.
Click on the NetworkManager applet at the bottom -right corner and select the option to connect to "GSM broadband blah blah" or something to that effect --> an hour glass for a few seconds and then annotification "you are now connected to blah blah blah".
If this doesnt work, I'd suggest you try a more recent version of OpenSuse or Ubuntu as Imelda hinted.
it should work , though i use ubuntuOn Thu, Sep 16, 2010 at 9:33 AM, Alex Mwega <alex@ims.co.ke> wrote:_______________________________________________Hi good people,
Does the Safaricom Modem work on a linux installation? I installed OpenSUSE 11 at home and tried to plug and play the modem in vain.
Kind Regards,
