Ok, its simple..

Open your safcom 3G program -> Tools -> Diagnostics

Voila !

Once you put your new different SIM Card - wait for your device to be detected, once it notices wrong SIM, you will be asked for unlock code - key it in..

at the risk of sounding ignorant:  how/where or what are the instructions  get the imei for the safaricom modem?  Then, once i get IMEI number, how/where do i paste the unlock code provided?

I am using ubuntu 9 and dont have access to a windows pc.
