@aki,thanks. But the data is very accurate. Kaduki had explained that NSE gives a fix feed that is used to populate the data on the websites so if NSE are wrong, then the dashboards and tickers will reflect wrong data. We take the raw materials (feed) and give the users the finished product and analysis.
And to everybody, I would like to apologize for certain statements that can be interpreted to have been made in bad taste, namely the references to Nelly, MyStocks, Eight and Rich.co.ke. I mistook this for an email blogroll and for that I am sorry for any Skunkworks policies that I may have breached, and to anyone I may have defamed. It's nice to know we have people who are ready to come forward and highlight these issues. I look forward to making more contributions in accordance with your (now our) policies. @Eugine, sincere gratitude. Again, none of the statements I have made were the views of Nelly Data / Knowing Limited.
Onto other matters, I've heard of numerous companies individuals try to create mobile trading systems. I wonder why no broker/bank has come forward with such a service. I've already looked at the logic for it and it seems extremely EASY to implement. If Safaricom are doing 5 bob scratch cards, I don't see why brokers should neglect the people who would go for this method of trading, considering they would make a commission for all transactions made...
@Aki - I will have a look at the ad... and data integrity is surely big business now. I'm sure there's a degree for just that. And considering the issues we've been having with Nyaga and all these other brokers under receivership or closed down, who has the mandate to go through the code and make sure there's no way you can call the programmer aside and ask him to create a little loophole with your *undetectable* logic... The steal-2-cents-in-every-transaction is a very real danger with stocks. When I had just cleared high school I used to do jua cali VB/MS SQL reconciliation between broker and registrar figures for the Eveready IPO and the figures would NEVER EVER EVER come close, even when the brokers would give me direct access to their databases. Even those little discrepancies should be really looked into. So that we (the general public or customers) can know if it's the software that's moving figures or it's the front-desk personnel who made a mistake in filling in a few forms.
And @Kago, if you would like to see an example on importance of data integrity when it comes to public access, please check out Nation page 22. The advert run by a company called Specialised Power Systems.I'm still trying to DECIPHER the coded messages in that advert....Rgds.
