Simon the problem with windows drivers is that the drivers for Vista biz, windows pro 7 , xp-pro are all different......
I think I had accidentally tampered with some thing in the system that it caused the CD/DVD drivers corrupt or missing. I'm still figuring out how and what I really did, because after installing Windows 7, I watched a movie on the system, without any hitches. Later, as I was familiarizing myself with the OS, I did something sending the CD/DVD drivers kaput! However, after re-installing Windows 7, the drivers were also installed in the process and it is working out fine. I'm working cautiously!

Did you have the machine drivers or you downloaded??
@ Alvin, I do have the machine drivers which I had on the recovery CD provided with the machine, and the downloaded ones. Both of them refused to work even after numerous restarts after installing the drivers.
