Hi Solomon, I think the modprobe line : modprobe card=bttv tuner=13 , should be modprobe bttv card=<card_number> tuner=<tuner_number> That said, yes i have had luck with both bttv and saa713x cards. the problem with the chinese manufactured cards is that they take a bit of trial and error to get working. manufacturers dont pack enough card info into the ROM for the kernel to recognize it properly, thus your woes.it might help to try as many combinations of <card_number> and <tuner_number> as you can. sounds daunting but i cant think of any other way; you could write a shell script to loop through. Lastly, be patient : i watched tv 2 months later! -- Ndungi Kyalo biblia.kenya.or.ke On Wed, Feb 10, 2010 at 10:37 AM, Simon Mburu <sgatonye@gmail.com> wrote:
Hi Guys,
I have scratched nearly all the hair on my head over this, help will be greatly appreciated. I need to setup a TV card to view TV on my ubuntu 9.10 box, I have done all the setup but i still cannot get the tuner to work. Output from dmesg is as follows

I have setup mythtv and scanning for channels does not give any signal, trying with tvtime also gives an error Reading configuration from /etc/tvtime/tvtime.xml Reading configuration from /root/.tvtime/tvtime.xml videoinput: Can't get tuner info: Invalid argument videoinput: Can't get tuner info: Invalid argument
from all the above output i can see that the problem the insatllation cannot find the tuner info so i tried to rmmod tuner and rmmod bttv then adding it afresh as modprobe card=bttv tuner=13 , i tried several number for the tuner but still not working. Has anyone been able to hack watching TV on linux and if yes, where am i going wrong. Or is this TV card completely not compatible with linux. What TV card should I use?
