Hello Skunkworks, Over time, i have received inquiries from individuals interested in attending the AFNOG events. However, due to logistical challenges and being an annual event, there are limits to the number of participants AfNOG can take. This essentially creates competitive applications and most folks dont make the cut either due to costs or pre-requisite qualifications. In this respect, theres an ongoing initiative to localize the basic AFNOG training - Unix administration course. As such, am interested to establish how many of you would be interested in a) participating and b) Paying for the training The training is held over a 5 day period and is hands-on see course outline on http://ws.afnog.org/afnog2008/sae/detail.html The fee would be on a cost-recovery basis and hence am trying to establish what value folks would place on such a training. If we have sponsors then i may be entirely free. Certificates, Materials etc, would come from AfNOG and the only interesting aspect is that its a purely local event with local trainers. The main difference between AfNOG and other commercial trainings are that; 1) Its non-profit - meaning the objective is to build capacity 2) The training is focused on operational best practices, tips and tricks - basically what formal training wont tell you. If this is of interest to you please participate in this doodle poll to assist us see the value for this. Of course this would be a skunkworks event and based on the interest, can schedule to hold such trainings/events around going forward as part of improving the technical community. Best regards, Michuki.
