Could be your processor. Is the Windows 7 64 bit or 32 bit? What's your processor model and number (include the number too e.g. E8600)? Any case, your processor may need to support VT (virtualization) and have it turned on thru the bios (so u're bios should also allow u to turn on the flag). Have a look at the following link for more information: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=dis... If u scroll further near the bottom u will see that laptops might have difficulties. --- On Fri, 7/2/10, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com> wrote: From: Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com> Subject: [Skunkworks] Any Virtualization Experts Here? To: "Skunkworks forum" <skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> Date: Friday, July 2, 2010, 1:22 PM I have a laptop, HP 6710B running Windows Server 2008 (x64) R2 STD which I'd like to virtualize. I actually intend to run Windows 7 on this laptop but install VMWare Wkstn and get the Windows SVR running inside. All my attempts to use VMWare converter to virtualize this live machine have failed. Did anyone succeed in doing this? I've already googled for possible solutions so don't suggest it:) -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ "If you have nothing good to say about someone, just shut up!." -- Lucky Dube -----Inline Attachment Follows----- _______________________________________________ Skunkworks mailing list Skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke http://lists.my.co.ke/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/skunkworks ------------ Skunkworks Server donations spreadsheet http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AopdHkqSqKL-dHlQVTMxU1VBdU1BSWJxdy1f... ------------ Skunkworks Rules http://my.co.ke/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=94 ------------ Other services @ http://my.co.ke
