Alright, thanks! Let me try that. The vendor knows about the matter and has even specified it in the documentation. From a technical perspective, it's possible to use any kind of a proxy but this vendor has done some ju-jistu that makes it impossible to activate the system while using an authenticated proxy. Without the activation, I can't even go past the login window of the system!

Yes indeed, 'cheat' is what I want to do! Unfortunately I do not have the privilege of changing anything on the proxy since that is a few pay grades above mine! Our proxy is an authenticated proxy which the new system is not built to use. If I were to use the default gateway on the proxy settings, which port number do you reckon I should use, or do I just let my imagination run wild?
