Depending on what you want to achieve.... There is a GUI app known as *KALKUN* but i didn't find it rich in features. Maybe can sort you out - uses MYSQL database. I have used GAMMU as linux s/w and FUSION 220/110 as h/w connected via console. I did most of the coding to match what i wanted [ Was able to convert SMS to EMAILS and EMAILS sent from specific sender to SMS. ] - i got some coding help from this forum. Bash scripting and perl sorted me out :) Be ready to do encoding UTF-8/Unicode/Western depending on where your customer is located and language he/she understands. Headache was from EMAIL to SMS but finally got it right. Fusion i used had only 1 sim card, so had to carefully code to send sms sequencially. Kind Regards, Wilson./ On 12 December 2013 17:39, jeremy sinja <jeysinja@gmail.com> wrote:

You can also look at smstools+playsms. You should be able to do email to sms, sms to email, bulk sms to groups, etc.
About speed, not sure how it compares to other tools. Setup tested uses modem hooked to server to send out and receive.

I stand corrected. Mass sms is what I mean. Oh, I have used ozeki but it is not open source, has limited customization capabilities and it's slow sending mass sms

Did you just say 'mass mail'?? Did you mean 'mass sms', as that is what is consistent with your original post.

I am thinking of a web based sms application. Features I am thinking about include the gateway manipulating the database inserting incoming and outgoing mass mail.

kannel works for me, but you chose based on features you want, not what you hear about them.
