Sorry Wash and David,
I am not a(n?) HPUX sys admin. I only use it at client sites .
HPUX, like AIX and some few other Unix flavours apparently cannot be virtualised via vmware on a pc.

HP do have their own virtual machine software which I gather can run hpux.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HP_Integrity_Virtual_Machines, http://www.sics.se/~niwi/hpux/IVM_admin.pdf
The current version of HPUX runs on PA-RISC or Itanium platforms which not many vms can emulate.
I am no teacher but I can share what I know :)

And let me take this opportunity to take back my words. gtar is actually gnu version of tar that comes with HPUX.
Now, kinda, I get this gist of someone passing off as Mr. Lawi. The only "Mr."s we had were those teachers in school. Everyone else was just their name.
Now Mr. Lawi, I am interested in knowing one or two things about HPUX. Is it possible to get an image to play with, somehow?
Ama you just be the teacher you are and start up a class for us?
