Hey Chris, Thanks for your input. Actually, I'm in office setting up a virtual mail and proxy server on Centos [I'm using a VM]. Once the thing is up and running, we'll set up a real one for our organisation. Anyone else interested in setting up a mail server [first timer like myself] should check out http://www.linuxmail.info I find it quite informative. Thanks. 2009/11/28 Chris W. <dabnix@gmail.com>

Good point Mr. Muchai... I hope our providers are listening... I know they lurk somewhere here...

Hey guys,
I am running MDaemon and it seems like someone has his spam guns pointed at me. Our server does a domainpop to our ISP, with which we have an account. When I log on to our mailbox at the ISP, I see a ton of junk mail.
Hi Simon,
Why not setup a 'real' mail server and have the mails directed to it - an open source based for that matter. With one, you have all the controls at hand to tweak your mail server as you consider appropriate + space and accounts!
I'm thinking the computer and the mdaemon hosting setup consumes the same resources an 'ideal' server would consume. Why remain in a cell while all the gates remain open... reminds me of some cartoon, see attached.Very true!!!

IMO it's your ISP's job to filter the junk before it gets to your inbox, and I don't see why you should pay more for that to be done. I'd only pay more if they've got a free basic service, then a premium, paid-for one with bells and whistles like quarantine, whitelisting, filter sensitivity adjustment, etc. I think it's even worse knowing the tools to do all these are available open-source and free.
I'll throw up my flameshield and suggest you change providers.
