Very interesting - If techies are having such a difficult time making the system work for them how will the non-techies deal with it. For those who are still confused. Step 1 - Register as an online user. Even though you have been filing your returns in the past doesnt mean that you'll be able to login. @Larry et al - you have to select the existing tax payer option (if you are not an online user) and then fill in those extra details so that you become and online user. Step 2 - login now using your new account details then add your tax obligations. There's a tab with "Request Data update in TRE". Once that is submitted you can then try and file.
