Executing on a bad idea will get simply get you a bad idea well-executed... not far indeed (at least not for the long term). On the other hand, executing not-so-ok on a great idea will get you farther (it buys you time for mid-course corrections).

I'm ok giving Cupertino mad props for execution (which up until now they had done very well), just not for much innovation (which is what they normally get credited for).

It is true innovation is over-rated, but so is execution.
