depnding on where you are, orange 3g can be as fast as safcom. havent used it in a while but while in langata a while back, i consistently and reliably clocked 2mbps, with little jitter on that graph on the huawei modem client i was using (was using an unlocked saf modem) .... but ive heard stories of downtimes, and bugs with the billing system when u pay the 1k for one week unlimited.... but those are quite rare anyways. so if u have a good orange 3g signl where u r, lucky u :-) On 3/27/11, Bernard Mwagiru <bmwagiru@gmail.com> wrote:

Not bad...but there's always room for improvement.

Orange 3g+ has become a dialup service, frequently drops out and also looses internet gateways connecitivity. It's become a very poorly managed network. Speedwise, it closely resembles Edge.
Over then back to Safcom. It surely has improved quite a lot and the rates are now similar to what Orange offered a while ago i.e 1ksh/Mbyte. Am still to try AFOL services in a few months time so keeping an open mind. Orange and Airtel 3g are still dreams, so Safcom I think now takes the lead over real 3g versus competitive pricing. The only thing I noticed was that Safcom 3g seem to be routing internet connecitivity over satellite, the average is about 610ms. Not run traces as don't have time to.
Me thots.
