After reading the link I posted in my response, have you decided what type of DNS server you want to setup? Since this is a new DNS setup, you can blow away /etc/bind/named.conf file and install the default one again... there's always a copy lying somewhere: find / -type f -name named.conf On 5 May 2014 15:07, jeremy sinja <jeysinja@gmail.com> wrote:
Restarted bind service it refused to start. Checked the syslog I have problems at the /etc/bind/named.conf file. And I am not sure whether the dns service can work offline(without internet connection) On May 5, 2014 2:58 PM, "Thuo Wilson" <lixton@gmail.com> wrote:

Any good tutorials on setting up a local dns server on ubuntu 12.04? Tips on how to configure bind9 or better software. Tried following the instructions on several sites including Ubuntu forum and I aint there yet
What have you done so far? What is failing? What makes you say it "isn't there yet"
Kind Regards, Wilson./
