Hi True, developers are there, but to be honest their quality is really low, a little dissapointing and they are not a serious bunch (some don't know what ping is!). Back in the late 90s to the early 2000s there were few, but very, very good developers who learnt how to develop because they wanted to and were serious about it (coding wasn't cool and was unheard of those days of c++ for windows, paradox db, dbase iii and iv, pc interrupts, register variables etc), I remember a time where to get into computer science in uni required higher KCSE results than medicine. Then came this huge and massive wave of people who wanted to be programmers because either it was cool, everyone was dong it or it was "marketable", or maybe they wanted to be like so and so, and sadly these people form most of the developers around applying for jobs today. Short of the long, you will get lots of people who say they can do php, mysql, joomla, wordpress, blah blah (the popular things) and when you sit with them they can't install xampp or *really* code and most are just part of the coder fab group. Ask for Python programmers (the less popular but equally powerful) and you get people who decided to learn development in Python because it is what they wanted to do, rather than learnt to code php because everyone else is doing it or they heard that it is marketable. You will find them (less known languages group) a lot more skilled and serious. Now those are few and far between. Sad but good luck! J On 27 July 2012 15:53, Ndungi Kyalo <ndungi@gmail.com> wrote:
The other day a friend remarked that finding a developer is becoming increasingly difficult. Where have they disappeared to ? Is someone abducting them ?

Hi Again,
It should also be stated, must have minimum 3 years+ experience and as a result a working portfolio. No age requirement but must be grown up (had to add that)!
For the correct candidate, this could be a career maker.
