Can you tell what changes you made to the system about 1 month ago? You may undo those and see if it helps.
Otherwise, you may want to check the memory (remove/unseat/reseat) while also considering updating to Vista SP2 and see if that might help address something.
If all fails, there are several Unixen out there:-)
