Get an SSD and you will be sorted out on that bottleneck.

I've come to find on laptops that the biggest bottleneck might actually be the hard disk. What speed? 7200 or 5400?

Sharing some thots. Just finished setting the Toshiba Qosmio X500 laptop for someone and this machine is mad! Specs are Corei7 quad core CPU, 8GB RAM, total 1.2TB hdds and a whooping 18.4inch screen which no other laptop manufacturer besides Asus has come up with. The Toshiba laptop is definately on my wish list. In windows task mananger, you can see the 4X2 cores so you get the display of 8 processors. Amazing sound, full length keyboard, blu-ray, hdmi etc etc. ships with W7HE, 64bit. Downside is the battery life of max 3hrs and 4.6Kgs of weight. A huge upside side is a desktop specs machine thats a portable.
